What is Acclaim Household Flea Spray?

Acclaim comes in a large (400ml) pressurised aerosol spray can containing the active ingredients S-Methoprene and Permethrin. The S-Methoprene lasts for 12 months in the house and is extremely effective at preventing fleas from breeding. It stops any eggs which may already be present from hatching, and it prevents any flea larvae from developing into fleas. The Permethrin lasts for about 6 weeks and kills adult fleas present. It is also active against many other household pests, including cockroaches, house dust mites, earwigs, spiders, silverfish etc.

Why Use Acclaim to treat fleas? How does Acclaim Household Flea Spray work? How do I get rid of fleas?

Adult fleas are sometimes seen on pet dogs and cats. They tend to pick these up from going outside, anywhere that other animals can go. This includes hedgehogs, rodents, rabbits as well as other cats and dogs. Our pets do not need to come into contact with these other animals, merely walking over the same ground can be all that is needed. If just the occasional flea manages to land on your pet, it will probably do no harm and you will never know. However sometimes the flea population builds up to a high level, and skin irritation, sorness and hair loss can occur. Any adult female flea living on your pet, will lay eggs which drop off into the environment. Here they hatch into larvae and live in tiny nooks and crannies between floor boards or in carpets etc. They take a few weeks to develop into fleas, which then hop onto any passing dog or cat (or possibly even you!). It is said that for every flea found on our pets, their are probably up to 100 developing in the environment. This is why it is possible to use a very effective flea treatment on your pet, then a few days later see more fleas. These are probably new fleas, which have jumped onto your pet after it was treated. You usually never see the fleas in your house, but often they are there. Acclaim kills fleas, then prevents any others from developing for the next 12 months.
Acclaim Houshold Flea Spray does not have an unpleasant odour and remains effective where sunlight falls, unlike some other products.
